I just got my 91 TT and I have been “testing” the turbos out since I bought her just to make sure everything is working ok. So I am on my way back from my buddies house two nights ago and think hey…better make sure the turbos still work. I end up going on about a 5 min joy-ride run a 4 way stop at about 75 and hit at least 115 (stupid I know).
I am almost home and see the dreaded blue lights…shit! I pull over and think hey he probably didn’t see all of it, then over the speaker “step out of the vehicle, put your hands were I can see them, slowly walk to the rear of the car” yep he saw all of it..damn!
At that point I realize I’m screwed. So the guy comes up behind me and cuffs my ass then throws me in the back of the cop car.
He tells me my car is getting towed I am going to jail and loosing my license. So I’m just thinking shit…this sucks. So after about 5 minutes of sitting there and him doing paper work (handcuffs are painful) one of my friends sees my car and pulls up. He happens to know the cop really well and the cop turns out to be my neighbor (it was dark I just didn’t recognize him). So he ended up just letting me go! I felt like I won the damn lottery. Moral of the story: use your turbos with caution, they will get your ass sent to the clink and it really is all about who you know.
